All About Reserach

First, I would like to say that its being a pleasure working with my colleagues for EDUC 6163. I wish you all nothing but the best and continue strive for greatness. Now I will answer my last questions for this class below.

  • What insights have you gained about research from taking this course? I’ve gained a lot and one insight that I have for sure gained is that research cannot be done overnight. You have to take you time, be prepared and stay focus in order to properly conduct research about a specific topic.

  • In what ways have your ideas about the nature of doing research changed? My ideas and feelings towards research have defiantly changed. At the beginning of the course, I thought I wasn’t going to make to the end but I’ve proven myself wrong because we are summing this course up. The reason my feelings changed towards research is because I was over thinking my research and making it very difficult and hard but in reality it wasn’t hard at all just took time and effort.

  • What lessons about planning, designing, and conducting research in early childhood did you learn? I learned that you have to plan ahead so that when conducting your research you won’t be all over the place trying to get it done.

  • What were some of the challenges you encountered—and in what ways did you meet them? My topic was a challenge at first but I was able to sum my topic up and get to the point I was trying to get to with the help of my professor. It was mostly the wording of my topic.

  • What are some of the ways your perceptions of an early childhood professional have been modified as a result of this course? I can now complete many steps of the research process such as writing a topic, creating a hypothesis, being able to determine different research terms and being on task while conducting this research.

It’s been a Pleasure… J

Exploring website around the world

Learning about childhood education around the world is awesome. I decided to look into the research in Australia. Listed below you will find my questions alone with my response.

v  What are some of the current international research topics? Separation anxiety is a research topic that caught my attention. I never understood why children cry/throw tantrums when parents have to leave them at the school. Getting that experience I know see why. I am a mother of a 2 year old and when dropping him off at school, I think the both of us go through the separation anxiety phase because we’ve never been apart from one another.

v  What surprising facts/insights/new ideas about early childhood did you gain from exploring this international early childhood website? On the website it talks about the severity of separation anxiety. There are two types of separation anxiety and the two types are healthy separation anxiety and separation anxiety disorder. They are similar but have some differences. According to the website each child starts as a healthy separation anxiety and when the child shows extreme symptoms that’s when healthy separation anxiety is considered as separation anxiety disorder.

v  What other noteworthy information did you find on this website? I see that the website offer different books parents that all been quality-assured by early childhood experts. Also, transitioning to school was a topic on the website and it gives parents great advice/fact sheet if help is needed for the big transition.

v  Overall, the website is amazing. I emailed them to let them know how pleased I was while viewing their website and also, I asked if they would send me their monthly newsletter so that I can keep up with what’s going on around the world.
